He joined Department of Applied Mathematics, ECIT as an assistant professor in November, 1984. He did research work on applied mathematics under the guidance of Professor Chengpan Pan. He was promoted to be an associate professor in July, 1994. From September, 1995 to June, 1999, He did graduate research work on face recognition under the guidance and supervison of Professor Jingyu Yang and received his Ph.D. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligence System from Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST, the former ECIT) in July, 1999. He visited Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CHUK) from January, 2000 to June, 2000 and from September, 2000 to August, 2001 as a research assistant by the invitation and supervision of Professor Irwin King. From October, 2001 to July, 2002, He visited Laboratoire HEUDIASYC, UMR CNRS 6599, Universit¨¦ de Technologie de Compi¨¨gne (UTC) as a CNRS post-doctoral fellow by the invitation and direction of Dr. Franck Davoine. He visited Centre de Visi¨® per Computador, Universitat Aut¨°noma de Barcelona (UAB) as a Ram¨®n y Cajal research fellow from September, 2003 to January, 2006. He is a faculty member of School of Computer Science and Engineering, NUST since July, 2000. He was promoted to be a professor by NUST in April, 2002. He is the author of over 150 scientific papers in pattern recognition, image processing, face recognition, applied mathematics. His current interests are in the areas of pattern recognition, image processing, face recognition, facial expression analysis and recognition, content-based image retrieval, environmental perception and understanding. |
